"Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" "Elixir of Freedom"

The Satsang Foundation under the guidance of Sri M launched a project called "Manav Seva Beyond Barriers" on May 7 this year to teach yoga and meditation to prison inmates across cities in India to help them become physically and mentally fit. As part of this, 26 successful yoga classes have been conducted so far and more than 200 prisoner friends have been given yoga training.

As a continuation of this project, both the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo and the 75th Independence Amrita Mahotsav were celebrated at the Bangalore Central Jail by the volunteers of the Satsang Foundation, in the presence of the inmates, Chief Superintendent S. T. Ramesh had arrived as guest. During this time all the prison inmates were distributed yoga accessories and yoga books.

Commemorating many freedom fighters, including Sri Aurobindo, who fought for India's independence, nationalism as part of the Amrita Mahotsav and the essence of spirituality to commemorate Aurobindo's birth were made known to the prison inmates.

Aurobindo, who was a true nationalist, later preached the essence of spirituality to the world as Yogi Aurobindo; Remembering Maharishi Aurobindo, who combined both nationalism and spirituality, he addressed the inmates and convinced them that "just as the country got freedom, it is important for us to get freedom from worries, our inertia and bad deeds". Yogasanas were also performed by trained inmates on the occasion.

Sri M told "Whoever is incarcerated for crimes, all of them constantly practice yoga and meditation taught by yoga teachers. Our intention is that by the time you get out of your sentence, you will come out as a man who respects the nation, a good citizen. You may be inside, we may be outside. But we are all brothers and sisters. We are all one. , a video with a message of hope was also shared saying, "We all have the same soul, may some of you become yogis like Maharshi Aurobindo, and if not, come out of jail as good men".

The Satsang Foundation's 'Manav Seva Beyond Barriers' project will continue to conduct yoga trainings from which hundreds of captive friends will benefit.
